PEPFAR Concludes Youth Program with Sports Day
The United States President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) and the Frank Fredericks Foundation, a local NGO run by a Namibian athletic hero, concluded a successful one-year program for youth in Windhoek’s informal settlements with a sports day, with participation of more than 80 young people. The program combined sports and educational components to raise HIV/AIDS awareness. PEPFAR also awarded scholarships to two local athletes at the event who will use the money to pay for secondary school and athletic activities. PEPFAR Country Director Dr. Jennifer Nield and Frank Fredericks Foundation trustee Dr. Anibal Rego spoke at the event and congratulated all the youth who participated.
