Matheus Hamutenya, 29, Keetmanshoop – Rutgers University, Business & Entrepreneurship

Matheus Hamutenya has over three years’ experience in the media sector. Currently, Matheus is a journalist at New Era Newspaper. He is also the founder of the Men4Women Organization aimed at sensitizing boys and men on the important role they can play to reduce teenage pregnancies among rural girls. Matheus holds an honors degree in Media and Sociology from the University of Namibia. Matheus is committed to solving rural problems through business that cater for the needs of the rural masses, and is also interested in seeing value addition to rural raw materials, especially devils claw, to benefit rural people more. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, Matheus plans to continue with sensitization of men on reducing teenage pregnancies.  He also hopes to expand his poultry and service businesses to cater for a wide rural community, and push for value addition in rural areas, especially on devils claw and also seek for better markets so that rural communities dependent on that for survival can benefit more.
