Statement by U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Jess Long on Namibia’s 32nd Independence Day

On behalf of the American people, I want to extend my congratulations to His Excellency President Hage Geingob and to all Namibians on your country’s celebration of its 32nd year of independence.  The United States values the enduring partnership and friendship between our people, rooted in our mutual commitment to deepening democracy, promoting shared prosperity, and advancing human rights.  Together, we are working to ensure the health and prosperity of the Namibian people for decades to come.

I also commend you on Namibia’s bold ambitions to become a global leader in clean energy to drive economic growth, promote sustainability, and tackle the climate crisis. The United States is committed to further expanding our commercial and trade ties to benefit both our countries’ citizens.

On your 32nd Independence Day, I again offer my sincere congratulations to the Namibian people and reaffirm our commitment to partner with Namibia to build a stronger, healthier, more prosperous future for all.
