United States Honors Minister of Health Dr. Richard Kamwi

U.S. Ambassador Thomas Daughton and a visiting U.S. dignitary honored Minister of Health and Social Services Dr. Richard Kamwi at the Ambassador’s residence Saturday, March 9. Deputy Assistant Secretary Shannon Smith of the U.S. Department of State presented Minister Kamwi with an award as a token of appreciation for his dedication and partnership throughout the years. She also presented Minister Kamwi with a hand-carried thank you letter from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Thomas R. Frieden.

Deputy Assistant Secretary Smith thanked Minister Kamwi for his support for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) program and the role that the Ministry of Health and Social Services has played in implementing assistance programs.  She explained the significance of Minister Kamwi’s work and the recognition that his efforts to save lives has garnered from Washington, D.C.
